Put a SPOON on it!!! ~~ BUBBLE TRICKS! SIPS AND TIPS! Does the spoon work?!

How do you keep your bubbly Crisp and BRIGHT?
Do you want bubbles the next day?
Did you accidentally pop open a bottle of Champagne, and can't finish it? #poppinbottles #popit
It happens....sometimes when you're on a roll, at a party, a wedding, a birthday...etc.
Or have you ever looked around after your party, and
realize there's quite a few bottles that are still open?
What a pity, and a waste you think, while you're sipping on one of them. LOL

Then you remember that instagram or this blog, or an episode of Myth Busters!
Or you don't know about the spoon, what f'n spoon?!
What are you talking about? Yep, because no one ever told you, nor showed you the trick with the SPOON.
A SPOON!

Picture credit by the Matrix...an epic movie favorite.
Who could forget this scene and this kid with the bending spoon?

Sidenote: Per The Matrix 101 site: The spoon exists only in the Matrix, which really means it doesn't exist. It's a lesson for Neo, to help him realize that manipulating the Matrix isn't about focusing on an object and trying to change it. The object doesn't exist, so he can't change it, he has to change himself.

Continuing....Bottomline good Champagne or Sparkles in general are not to be wasted.
So what do you do when everyone is leaving, or passed out? With everyone gone or asleep in various places of your house, and sunrise is imminent, one must act quickly to save the frothy from dying.
Slowly but surely you too, the life of the party, is starting to drift into sleepytown.....
Cork plugs are where? You realize you've already sent your mom and a friend home with a paper bag of goodies, and cork stopper bubbles.

Put a spoon in it! Yesssss! Put SPOONs in the bottles, toss in the fridge, bed. In a few hours, chase the dragon and it still going to be refreshing.
I do this with my White wines and Roses too.
I have no shame in preserving my preciousness.

It's just Science and old school.
My mom did this when I was young, of course I thought nothing of it. But, as an adult her old school ways are still the best tricks of the trade.

The Science behind it comes from the metal spoon,
put on like a cork or "neck of the bottle."
Cold air is just thick and dense. Think of the Fog in the morning...
Now if you live in San Francisco, or parts of Bourgogne (Burgundy)
especially Dijon or Semur-en Auxois it just sits after it rolls in and stays for awhile. So, basically the spoon gets cold, and stays cold. Colder than the plug you took out your drawer when you corked it with the stopper. Metal stays cool, and helps cool the air inside the bottle.....quicker. This prevents the bubbles from losing their lovely effervescence....fizzzzz, frizzante, le bolle, burbujas, les bulles.
The bubbles don't escape, stay fresh and "Good morning."
"Hello pain perdu!"
(French toast.)

Just like new! I have even used a fork to see if it could stand up to it's helpful partner. It worked, though I feel the spoon is best!

Another tip,with a sip:
This also works for soda and sparkling H2O in a bottle.

Use a Spoon in your bottle instead of an air lock cork, try something new.
If you already know about this, pass the myth on.
It works!
Experiment with friends....
Next day you wake up, and they're waking up too.
The smell your yummy breakfast cooking, impress them more.
Offer a fresh squeezed pamplemousse(grapefruit) mimosa, as you pour from the same bottle from the night before. Champagne sans le jus or mimosa who cares as it is still fizzy and refreshingly delicious.
Turn on some Jazz, (let's say Francoise Hardy) and let the festivities continue!

French living and coming from an Urban SOMM's point of view.... Champagne? Fried Chicken, and would you like French Fries with that?! Are you having our fried Acaia flowers?

Who would think of such a thing?! Well if you're from San Francisco, you start to think outside the box! When living part time in France, and learning new things. Combining knowledge of taste, education, and switching off, and cooking with my French hubby. Things get very interesting in the mouth!

Fried Chicken, Champagne, and Acacia flowers...
Oh my!

Cooking Acacia fitters

Don't forget the champagne! Now Drink!

WITH CHAMPAGNE!

I first saw acacia flowers in Dijon France and in Semur-en-Auxois, France (Burgundy) in my husband and my backyard. I know now, this is a spring time flower that grows in parts of France.
A of ours friend made my first batch. I was completely intrigued.
She told me that my backyard was full of these tiny "petit fleurs." I did some research on these little edible flower bunches and followed her recipe. I made it a few times, and finally got it right! I even added a few twist, for another perspective. We picked like 30 strong bunches and could of kept going because it was fun. Some recipes also say that you don't have to keep the stems. I think they are the the best part. My husband and friend recommended that I do as well.
The stem is edible, and acts as sort of a kebab..... Volia, and makes it easy to eat.

The set up for the flowers, can be used for the chicken too.

Our backyard tree. The tree that keeps on giving... Fleurs des Acacia.

Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got it right, and doing it with my twist on it.
I already could fry some chicken, let me tell you!
Now I can fry little edible flowers too....and apples too. Yesssss apples too!  :)
Another plus they grow wild and for free, in my backyard.
Whoohoo!
Using the things that grow in the garden,
and making amazing things with them.
I buy organic chicken from farmers market
(le marche) or local. Trying new things, using my ideas, and combining foreign recipes.

Listening to great jazz and cooking is relaxing to me.
Putting things together to make something incredible.
Joining yummy and fried food to eat, and drink with Champagne!!
This makes me happy, and the hubby too!

Fluteau Blanc de Noir Champagne
Great reminder of a fried
chicken afternoon
with Martine.
I'm glad I picked up,
 more than one.
I think it's always best to buy 2,
if you like it.
This way you can have it
with a guest,
and know exactly what to cook it with.
Also, if you have to do a quick repeat.

There are other things that would blow your mind with Champagne....
Hamburgers, fries, dimsum, and more ....
Mind blowing with Champagne!
Fried Food and Champagne is making a new statement.
There's a new age of Drinking a classic treat!
More to come.... with bubbles and food from an City girl growing up in 7x7.
San Francisco is up next.
We've been eating great food,in a foodie's heaven. There has been many changes in the last 7 years in SF.
Urban life, still touching on the Luxury side, yet knowing how to keep it affordable.  Next blog...
A new way of Eating OUT!

Cheers and thanks for stopping by,
